Message of the Chair

Public life is getting surrounded by an increasingly multifaceted and complex plethora of problems. On the one hand, public demands are transforming the ways people reach political and public authorities through more democratic expression channels, while on the other hand, changes in culture, economy and technology constantly lead to the formation of new regulatory gaps in the organization of the social world. In a world where there is a greater concentration of information on local, national and international layers, the accuracy of political and managerial decisions is surrounded by multi-dimensional opportunities and threats for the functioning of a stable public sphere.

The international political context, the power of economic actors, urbanization and accumulation of environmental problems undermine the need for effective decision-making in the administration of public institutions, appropriate and fair policy making, transparency, adherence to ethical values in auditing, and strict adherence to the principles of responsibility towards society. In this complex world, public administration has become increasingly more technical and specialized than ever before.

This transformation in the nature of management and politics renders the restructuring of academic studies within public administration inevitable. Public administration studies have become highly popular among prestigious universities across the world due to this structuring process. There is a voluminous scientific accumulation in the field and universities update their curriculum according to the needs. In recent years, public administration studies at both undergraduate and graduate levels have gained in significance, and the demand for the field has increased in our country as well.

On this axis, public administration undergraduate program mainly focuses on a public administration perspective. However, the program also aims to train prospective managers for the third sector organizations in both private sector and civil society, who are versatile and capable of analytical thinking, questioning and reliant on democratic values. Students are offered an educational program that includes courses in the fields of political and social sciences, administrative sciences, urbanization and environmental problems, and law sciences. Our graduates have the skills required for employment in positions of general management, administrative law, human resources management, research and development and public relations.
