MESSAGE OF THE CHAIR
Economics is a science that predicts how scarce resources can be used to meet the needs of the society.
The weight of the economy in modern life is pretty high. The education given in the Department of Economics offers alternative methods to understand the world we live in. Actually, the economy is a part of our life because the quality of our lives depends on the disintegration of unused potentials, the optimal use of scarce resources, and the ability to make decisions in the right place and at the right time. The basic principles that a well-educated economist is supposed to embrace are not to miss out opportunities in all areas of our lives and that cost & benefit can be determined in a correct way. While the modern man makes choices in the material welfare dimension, the ability to distinguish and sometimes integrate a spiritual welfare dimension and make it optimal depends on the variety and quality of the education given in this regard.
The science of economics does not only teach how to make money, but it also teaches how to distinguish and choose opportunities that increase our welfare.
The Department of Economics of Manisa Celal Bayar University FEAS leads the way in which students can use their scarce resources most effectively and increase their welfare without decreasing the welfare of the general society. The department also leads the way to an in-depth investigation of the topics of economics with a sense of responsibility.
To specialize in economics, students are introduced to theoretical and practical knowledge at both national and international levels. The aim of the Department of Economics is to provide students with a variety of alternative courses, which will help them gain competitive advantage and reach a level of knowledge that will enable them to follow and contribute to the international literature.
The Department of Economics strives to educate economists that can analyze current affairs and economic development in Turkey and across the globe, and who are able to define problems, develop alternative policies and propose solutions.
